Rare vintage stoneware wall plaque by Börje Skohg for Gustavsberg c. 1970s. A ceramic art piece depicting a scene with horses painted in silver that appear to shift when viewed from various angles. 


MARKINGS:

Signed SKOHG on back and marked with Gustavsberg Studiohanden stamp.

CONDITION:

Very good vintage condition. Insignificant signs of wear/use consistent with age. No chips, cracks or crazing.


ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Börje Skohg (1923-2006) was a Swedish artist and potter. He began working at Gustavsberg in 1947 where he was discovered by Wilhem Kåge who placed him in the Argenta department. Skohg painted the famous Argenta series for 10 years. He is known for his silver painted ceramic tiles, plaques and stones, the latter which found a large market in the USA. He worked at Gustavsberg for 40 years and is represented in several museums and collections.
